Yep, it was! Dunkin Donuts was giving away free donuts to anyone who bought a drink, and Krispy Kreme was handing them out for the asking, no purchase necessary. It all started back in 1917 when the Salvation Army felt the soldiers in WWI needed a pick me up. It was established that the first friday in June would be National Donut Day.
And to honor the occasion, Makayla and I made donuts! Didn't want to take the 30 minute trip to and from Krispy Kreme, so we did this:
Maybe not the most perfectly shaped donuts you'll ever see, but it sure is a heap of yummy goodness!
And it looks like they passed the taste test, no complaints from these two! =)
