October Afternoon's Thrift Shop

Every once in awhile a kit comes my way that I love the papers but don't quite know what to do with them, and then the light bulb comes on! That is so the case with this mini kit from The ScrapRoom this month. Those white dots on black paper left me scratching my head until I found photos I'd taken of my grandbaby the weekend before. I knew instantly they were meant for each other and here is what I came up with. This first one is framed and hanging in my home with all the other framed layouts:

And I just couldn't resist another of similar photos:

Guess it just goes to show ya that when you think your out of ideas, stop looking so hard, cause they pop right up when you least expect them. =)

Happy Earth Day!

What will you do to preserve this beautiful thing we call Earth?

Here are just a few things on my 'short list' that we do everyday:
* use washable/reuseable grocery bags
* use low/no phosphate laundry/dishwashing soaps
* use a reusable water bottle/thermos & use filtered tap water
* recycle cardboard, junk mail, paper wrappers & cups, plastics, etc.
* use homemade sprays that won't harm the birds or essential insects
* pull weeds instead of chemically spraying
* walk to the corner grocery store instead of driving
* pick up trash others leave behind
* water the lawn in the early morning hours 2 times per week for 15 mins.

And the things I need to work on:

* rid my home of aerosol sprays
* buy fewer groceries that are packaged in plastics

If you already incorporate some of these very same things into your daily routines, kuddos! If not, its never too late to start. Remember that future generations depend on us to preserve this Earth and all its glory so they may live long and happy lives, too.

Basic Grey Green At Heart

After getting my kits from The ScrapRoom last week, I immediately went to work getting my photos organized because I just knew it would be one of those kits that once I started, I wouldn't be able to stop. =) (Have I mentioned that Tammy, the owner, has wonderful taste?!)

So, here are a few layouts I've completed so far with the Green At Heart papers. This first one is of my backyard container garden plants:

And this one is based on a sketch by Julie Bonner for the Week #15 Weekly Challenge! at The ScrapRoom Blog. There's still plenty of time to enter for this weeks prize, so stop on by and check it out. =)

I'll be back later with more scrappy goodness to share!

Bad blogger, bad blogger, bad blogger!

Me in a nutshell! First, March escaped me and now its already April 16th! WHOA!

Since the taxes are filed, and we figured out it was my meds that were rebelling against my body, all is well once again in our little spot on this planet. Well, I just won't mention those HUGE repair bills to keep the business afloat. Too freakin' depressing!

In order to regain my sanity I scrapped!! And as soon as my chores are done for the day, I'll be back to Blog Hop with Willow Traders. =) Its been waaaaaaay tooooo long!!

Be back in a bit. =)
