Quick getaways are the BEST!

This past weekend was gorgeous and the perfect time to sneak away from the noise and dust of the construction next to us. Camping on the river was exactly what the doctor ordered!

The perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of life! We've already booked one more weekend here in November, and will definitely be choosing this place often.

FINISHED!

How long does it take you to get the courage to try something new?

I pieced this quilt top pre-pandemic, around 2018. With just having a small space to quilt it together, no quilt frame to put it on for quilting process, surgery and long recovery period for my shoulder, it sat in a container until a few weeks ago. Yesterday, September 30th, I finally sewed on the binding!! I conquered my fear of being a perfectionist, and went for it! Are there mistakes? OH YEAH, but it will keep us snuggly warm while watching TV on those chilly evenings. :)

Now that I have this one completed, I'm ready to get busy on another. I only have 31 more quilt tops to go!

IT'S FALL!!

Already?! Almost October and we've been busy, busy busy! Between sending our granddaughter off to college mid August, to camping with Nicole & Kara, getting back to the swing of things with my job at school, we haven't had a chance to breathe! Instead of the usual babble, I'm going to show you, in order, our August and September in pictures!

Departure day .... yeah, we shed a tear or maybe a few thousand! The second is her and her roommate.

Camping on the Oregon coast and it was quite breezy on the beach!

And yes, we decided to trade in Miss Elouise.
Meet Stella! So much room for the same size!

We'll be heading out again soon, so hopefully I'll be back with more pictures of our adventures in Stella!

Break out the paints!

While trying to reorganize a spare room, I came across my paints and some canvas. Since I didn't want to go outdoors because it humid as all get out, I decided to grab them and see what transpires.

Using bubble wrap and paints, I created my base. From here I want to enlist a few scrapbook papers, gesso, maybe ink a few stamps, some wooden pieces, who knows!

To be continued ....

Baking time!

Some days I get the itch to bake! If I'm making the mess, I'm doing it right. Sunday it was chocolate chip cookies, and yesterday I baked pumpkin dog biscuits and chocolate chip pumpkin bread! Notice a pattern here. 😉

Yep, jumped on the pumpkin bandwagon early this year because I'm ready for cooler temps and some rain to green up this brown countryside. It looks nasty! I'm finding all these cute decoration ideas for Fall and Halloween, and tossing in a few Holiday ones as well! 🌲

Have a good day -

Good morning!

Our weather has been extremely HOT for our area and my poor plants have really struggled this year. While working in the yard yesterday to clear out the "expired" plants, and clean up my garden, I found these have survived!  The hydrangeas were from a plant that once adorned the table for the rehearsal dinner we had for my son and his lovely wife. They actually celebrate their 23rd anniversary in two days! Happy Anniversary kids! 💘

Time to get some housework caught up. Was going to go outside and work more in the yard, but it's already warming at 9:08am and it's going to heat up fast again today. Personally, I'm a 75 degrees individual and could do without 90+ degree days ... just sayin' ... catch ya later!

Life ... it can get CRAZY!

Once again my poor blog has been a bit lonely. The older I get, the faster time goes on, or so it seems! We have been so BUSY! Heck, in just over three weeks, our oldest granddaughter will be on her way to her freshman year of college! How can that be?!

Speaking of my granddaughter, here we are at her graduation. So much to be happy about! She'll be heading to school 8 hours from home, but since she'll be on the softball team, hopefully she'll get to travel with them her first year and we'll be able to see her play at the area colleges. If not, she'll be home a few times, and we can always venture her way. 😁

I knew this was going to be short, but my start-up day for the school year is in three short weeks, and I have LOTS to get done before then! So outta here for now!

Trying a new method!

I was anonymously gifted with this Stripology Mixology 2 pattern book by GE Designs by someone with a very generous heart! I feel so Blessed to have received it because there was this one pattern that I wanted to try so badly, but couldn't see buying a $30 book for just one pattern. "Cheap" has become my middle name in my older self! LOL!

Wanda, pictured on the cover, is what I'm creating!
You only use six 5" blocks, instead of nine, and just a mix of fabrics of the same theme or color ways. In my case, I used up some Halloween fabrics I had left over from mask making this past Fall. Still trying to decide what color I should use for sashing ... gray or off-white are what I have in mind ... I'll use up the rest of the  fabrics I used in my blocks for that thin strip in the sashing, as shown on the cover.

SOOOOOOOOOOO .................

Here's my blocks ... no two are the same, which is incredible!

And my neat stack of 20 blocks trimmed, and waiting for me to assemble!

These blocks were so fast and easy to assemble once I got the hang of it! I see me making many more in the future! I'll be sure to post once I get it all assembled, which I hope is this weekend ... we'll see!

Until next time -
